I wrote secret as secrete

While writing an email about Secret Santa, I mistakenly wrote Secrete Santa. I discovered the difference between secret and secrete a long ago and I am always cautious not to write secrete while writing secret. But I don't know why I am making this mistake often in recent days.

I also thought I had written about it in this blog, but I could not find it. So, I am writing it now.

Analyzed as Analysed

I frequently commit this spelling mistake. Analyzed is the correct spelling as per US English. Most of the time, I write it as Analysed. This is wrong in US English. However this is the correct spelling in UK English. So, if you are communicating in US English, then you need to follow the first one. Analyzing is also for Analysing in US English.

Yacht or Yatch?

Today, while working on a workout on the  Elevate app, I came across a word and I spelled it as Yatch. And it was wrong, obviously. I might have learned the correct spelling of Yacht when I was a kid. But over the years, I had remembered it as Yatch.  I guess it happened because I did not knew the correct pronunciation of the word. Instead of pronouncing it as  jɒt , I had alway pronounced it as  j atʃ , similar to 'match'.

Favor or Favour?

Favor is the correct spelling as per American English. But Favour is used in British English. Similarly, the past form of this word is favored (America) and favoured (British). Also, the word favorite is correct in American English, where favourite is in British English. There are few other words: favourable, favourably, favouritism stands in British English for their American counterparts: favorable, favorably, favoritism.
